Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Clark Technical Services Ltd, trading as Tayside DIY Doctor, collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

1. Who we are

Clark Technical Services Ltd, trading as Tayside DIY Doctor, is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

You can contact us about privacy or personal information at hello@taydiy.com or by telephone on 07983 524 398.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you contact us or use our services, we may collect:

  • Your name, email address and telephone number.
  • The address where work is requested.
  • Details of the service, enquiry or work required.
  • Photographs you provide to help us assess the proposed work.
  • Your selected appointment date and time.
  • Booking, payment and transaction reference information.
  • Messages and other correspondence between you and us.
  • Technical information needed to operate and secure the website, such as request logs and device or browser information.

Please do not include unnecessary personal information in photographs, notes or messages. Where possible, avoid submitting images containing people, private documents or unrelated possessions.

3. How we use your information

We may use your personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide estimates or quotations.
  • Assess whether a requested service is within our service area.
  • Arrange, manage and carry out appointments.
  • Process booking deposits and other payments.
  • Send booking confirmations and service-related messages.
  • Maintain business, accounting and tax records.
  • Deal with cancellations, complaints, disputes or legal claims.
  • Prevent misuse and maintain the security of our website.
  • Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Our lawful bases

We process personal information only when we have a lawful basis to do so. Depending on the circumstances, this may be:

  • Contract: where processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to provide a service you have booked.
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep or use information to meet legal, accounting or tax requirements.
  • Legitimate interests: where reasonably necessary to operate and protect the business, respond to enquiries, maintain records or deal with disputes, provided your rights do not override those interests.
  • Consent: where we specifically ask for consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time, although this will not affect processing that took place before it was withdrawn.

5. Payments

Online booking deposits are processed by Stripe. Payment-card details are entered into Stripe's checkout service and are not stored by Tayside DIY Doctor. We receive information confirming the payment, together with relevant transaction and booking references.

Stripe processes personal information under its own privacy terms and may act as an independent controller for some of its payment and fraud-prevention activities.

6. Who we share information with

We may share information with service providers where necessary to operate the business, including:

  • Stripe for payment processing.
  • Google services for email, calendars and secure file storage.
  • Netlify for website hosting and website-form processing.
  • Accounting, bookkeeping or professional advisers where reasonably necessary.
  • Insurers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts where required or permitted by law.

We do not sell your personal information. We only disclose it when necessary for the purposes described in this notice or when legally required.

7. International transfers

Some technology providers may process or store personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards or another legally permitted transfer mechanism to protect that information.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet legal, accounting, insurance or dispute-resolution requirements.

  • Unsuccessful or abandoned booking information will normally be deleted or anonymised within 12 months.
  • General enquiries that do not lead to work will normally be retained for no longer than 24 months.
  • Booking, payment, invoice and completed-job records may normally be retained for up to seven years to meet accounting, tax and legal requirements.
  • Job photographs will be removed when they are no longer reasonably required for assessment, service records, insurance or dispute purposes.

Information may be kept for longer where a complaint, dispute, insurance matter or legal claim is ongoing.

9. Keeping information secure

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. No internet or electronic storage system can, however, be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of your personal information.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Ask us to erase information in certain circumstances.
  • Ask us to restrict how information is used.
  • Object to certain processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Receive certain information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions. To exercise a right, contact us using the details in section 1. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. Complaints

Please contact us first if you have concerns about how your information has been handled so that we have an opportunity to resolve them.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the United Kingdom's data-protection regulator. Information about making a complaint is available at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint .

12. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when our services, systems or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on this page with its updated date.
